Why study a language?

Universities around the world value students who have the dedication to learn another language. An A Level language qualification provides a very good foundation for a degree in History, English, Politics and law. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a joint honours degree, for example History and French. Learning another language increases your chances of being employed by a significantly. Skills that are gained when studying a language are extremely desirable for employers and show dedication, persistence and hard work.

About the course

During your studies, you will learn to develop an exceptional command of vocabulary and grammar. You will be able to translate in and out of the selected language and be able to speak it with confidence. Students will see a significant increase in their communication skills as the course progresses.
Students will be able to develop their speaking and writing skills through class-based discussion, and writing different types of text. Studying a language at A level will lay the foundation for further study and also sets you up to function in your chosen language independently.
