Studying Design and Technology A Level is ideal for those who love to be practical as 50% of your overall mark will be assessed on your coursework and design portfolio. A good grade in this subject can help you to progress in a range of university courses and open up many career opportunities such as automotive design, architecture, manufacturing, advertising, engineering and many more.
About the course
A Level Design and Technology will focus on the world of 3D design and bringing ideas to life. You will cover four main topics over the course of A Level Design and Technology: ‘Minerals, components and application’, ‘learning through designing and making’, ‘design and manufacturing’ and ‘designing and making in practice’. You will learn many key skills which will be useful throughout the course but also for future development such as:
- How to assemble data and assess it
- How to investigate facts and use deduction
- How to put over your point of view fluently
- How to work as a team to achieve results
- How to take responsibility for your own learning
- Further Mathematics
- Higher/Degree Apprenticeship
