What's on in Liverpool: Summer 2017

The sun is shining, the temperature has risen and summer is officially here! This looks to be one of the best summers yet with so many events taking place in Liverpool over the coming months. There is always something happening in Liverpool and many events are completely FREE so who could say no?! Take a look at our ‘Not-To-Be-Missed’ recommended events that are taking place this summer…


Africa Oyé: 17th – 18th June

Africa Oyé is the UK’s largest free African festival celebrating African culture and music which takes place annually in Liverpool. This year’s festival is the 25th anniversary meaning that there is even more to celebrate! The festival also has over 40 food, drink, arts and crafts stall as well as a fantastic line-up of singers, bands and DJs. The festival takes place in Sefton Park which is a short journey from Liverpool city centre by train or bus. 

International Mersey River Festival: 24th – 25th June

The International Mersey River Festival is going to be an action packed weekend that students can enjoy during this weekend in July. Taking place at the Albert Dock and Liverpool waterfront, the maritime event is great for all ages. The festival will include street theatre, craft workshops, as well as many tall ships, military vessels and research  ships docking at the port. There will also be a boat race, jet skiing, fly boarding and several music stages placed around the docks.


Brazilica: 14th – 16th July

Get a taste of Brazil in Liverpool! 2017 will be the 10th consecutive year that Brazilica has injected colour and music into the streets of Liverpool. Brazilica is the ever-popular Brazilian Festival and Samba Carnival features Samba bands from across the UK and overseas as well as the vibrant carnival parade that travels through the city centre. There will also be a main stage situated at the Pier Head with Brazilian bands, DJs and dance shows.

Liverpool International Music Festival: 20th – 23rd July

Liverpool International Music Festival, or LIMF as it’s widely known, is a completely free music festival taking place at Sefton Park. The annual festival will see some of music’s biggest names of the moment visit Liverpool for a weekend to remember. This year’s main acts include Gorgon City, Jax Jones, Naughty Boy, JP Cooper, Becky Hill plus much more. Not to mention the local Liverpool talent including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Cast, The Christians and more! Not to be missed!


LILA* Summer Party: August

This year the LILA* Summer Party is going to be bigger and better than ever. Our students loved the 2016 summer party and danced the night away under our ‘Summer of Love’ theme. Our team is planning an end of summer party for all students over 18 to celebrate their time at LILA* and say goodbye to summer in style! If you’re joining us in August, the party will be a brilliant way to meet other LILA* students and make new friends. Keep checking our Facebook page for party updates and tickets!

International Beatles Week 24th – 30th August

Celebrate the Famous Four at International Beatles Week. In the city where it all began, the festival boasts live music from over 70 bands from over 20 countries! There is live music on the Cavern’s three stages every day during Beatles week on the infamous Mathew Street. There is also various events taking place around the city in places such as Royal Court, Alma De Cuba (an old Church transformed into a restaurant/bar), St. George’s Hall and the Adelphi Hotel which will play host to the Annual Beatles Convention. With A Little Help From Your Friends, you will have a memorable week celebrating all things Beatles!
