A message from our Directors | February
Here we are, almost into Spring and looking forward to the summer season already. Without wanting to speak too soon we are, I hope, starting to see some green shoots of recovery coming through for the language travel industry.
There has been some good news for the sector recently with the Brazilian government revoking the threat to add a potentially crippling tax to language travel income, the weakening of the GBP against the dollar and the very welcome news that the UK Home Office has launched a Visa Waiver system in Kuwait. We’re looking forward to all three factors adding to what is already shaping up to be a lovely busy summer.
Speaking of being busy, Valentina, our Operations Officer, had her Social Programme hat on this week and when leading a night out to the Cavern. Joining her were students from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, Kuwait and Brazil, phew, and they danced the night away in the ‘home of the Beatles’. Seeing them enjoying Liverpool’s nightlife while making life-long friends warms my heart and makes me proud of what we do at LILA*.
LILA* sales and marketing team is having a pretty hectic start to the year too with up-coming trips to Brazil, Turkey, Japan, Mexico and the only slightly less exotic IALC workshop in Leeds and York. It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it!
