David Game College by LILA*

LILA* Liverpool have signed a partnership agreement with David Game College, one of the UK’s most prestigious private Sixth Form Colleges.  The partnership will see LILA* delivering a range of A Levels and University Foundation Programmes to local and international students from September 2022.

The college promise

At LILA* we promise our students that they will ‘love to learn’. We ensure they love to learn by putting them at the heart of everything we do.

We have considered the students’ wellbeing at every step of their journey to LILA*, from the care and advice they receive before deciding which course to study, to their arrival in the UK and their homestay, from their teachers and timetable to the environment they study in.

We believe that students reach their potential when they feel safe and cared for, are challenged academically and have an inspiring environment in which to learn.

Who are we?

LILA* was founded as an English language school in 2004 by sisters Leanne Linacre and Victoria Bligh. Over the past 15 years Leanne and Victoria have grown LILA* into a multi-award winning, British Council accredited language school welcoming students from over 50 different nationalities every year.

Leanne and Victoria were originally English language teachers and having lived and taught overseas understand perfectly well the challenges of adjusting to new culture and environment. They are also mothers and see every LILA* student as an extension of their own family making sure they insist on standards they would want for their own children studying abroad.

Established in 1974, David Game College has become one of the leading independent sixth form colleges in London. In May 2017 and February 2020, David Game College was graded as ‘Outstanding’ in all five categories by Ofsted. Business Development Director, Niel Pama said “David Game College offers a dynamic educational experience, providing students with the opportunity to learn and to develop new talents and skills. On average we send 70% of students to Russell Group Universities; the partnership with LILA* Liverpool provides us with an exciting opportunity to extend this provision”

The partnership compliments LILA*’s existing collaboration with Steven Gerrard Academy and will provide students with a range of opportunities to pursue degrees and careers in the booming Sports and Football industry, worldwide.  David MacDiarmid, Director at Steven Gerrard Academy said, “we are thrilled that LILA* have partnered up with David Game College and are looking forward to offering A Level programmes to our international students.”

Why David Game College by LILA*

LILA* Sixth Form College perfectly complements the language school as students benefit from being part of an international student body in their free time while concentrating on their studies in the small classes and focussed approach of the A Level programme.

Over the past 15 years we have built up a strong network of trusted and experienced host families who provide a warm, welcoming home for our students. In addition to this we have teamed up with Dukes Guardians to ensure that our students are cared for and supported in every pastoral aspect of their stay.

Recognising the growing importance of STEM subjects internationally LILA* students will have access to A Levels in key subjects including Design and Technology - Product Design (incl. 3D Printing), Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Engineering alongside English Language and Literature, Business, Economics, Geography, History and Physical Education, French, Spanish, Italian, German.

We have an exclusive partnership with the internationally renown Steven Gerrard Academy where students who have a passion for football and sports access the world-class facilities and expertise of the team at the academy, on our unique Sports and Football Pathway to University.

All details about our Sports and Football Pathway can be found here.

Wellbeing

The all-round wellbeing of our students is of paramount importance to us. A Levels are rigorous and challenging and students need to be mentally equipped to cope with the demands of the programmes. With this in mind we have partnered with award-winning yoga centre, White Wolf, and built weekly mindfulness and yoga classes into our timetable.

We run monthly workshops centred on those vital ‘soft-skills’ such as building resilience, developing leadership skills and confidence in public speaking. LILA* students graduate with a strong, well-rounded skill set, ready and able to enter university or the world of work.
