Liverpool International Language Academy (LILA) is offering up to £130-a-week for local families to open their doors to international students.
Students from all over the world come to Liverpool to learn English and the demand for language programmes is growing rapidly in Liverpool. We want local families to get involved. The students that study English want to immerse themselves in the English language and culture by living with local host families on a short or long term basis.
Liverpool is becoming one of the most popular destinations in the North of England to study English. LILA* Director Victoria Lee said: “Initially, students are attracted to Liverpool by our world class football teams and the Beatles, but by the time they leave they have seen and done so much more.”
Hosting students on a half board or room-only basis is a great way to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds and earn up to £130 per week for your spare room. One of our current host, Sarah, from Aigburth, said: “By providing a home from home experience for students it’s a great opportunity for me and my family to learn about new cultures and share new experiences. Hosting works around my schedule, I can choose to host on a short term or long term basis, the financial rewards are a great help too, especially in these difficult times.”
There is no requirement for you to be a host “family” in the conventional sense: you can be a single person, a lone parent, a family with children, other configurations – all are equally welcome to apply. All that is required is that hosts provide a warm, friendly environment for a visiting student and are interested in encouraging the student to interact and converse with members of the household.
LILA* Director, Leanne Linacre, said: “We are confident that more hosts will come forward and register with us. Liverpool is famous for its friendly and welcoming hospitality so we need more host families to share this with our students. We are especially looking to increase the number of en suite rooms we have, with our homestay families.”
LILA* wins Best Language School in England award!
It is with great pleasure we announce that LILA* in Liverpool has been voted by students
"Best Language School in England 2012".
The EducationStars Award shows that educational services, quality and customer satisfaction are recognised by LILA* students past and present. At the same time potential clients can see the emphasis a school is placing on these points.
Uniquely in the international education industry, the EducationStars Award is awarded based on student ratings only.
Director, Leanne Linacre, said ‘We are all absolutely thrilled to have won this award. We work so hard to ensure that students enjoy their time at LILA* so the fact that they have rated us so highly makes all the hard work worthwhile.’
The STM Star Awards are voted for by our industry peers and reflect excellence in business performance. All the team at LILA* believe that they have done what it takes to be nominated and to win this award.
To encourage the school's partners to vote they have created a vibrant student video that can be viewed online. 'We recorded our students explaining why they enjoy studying at LILA* and in Liverpool. The response was fantastic so we couldn't wait to show this to our partners. Even the students think our partners should vote for us, so please do' said Stacey McGee, Sales and Marketing Assistant.
The award ceremony takes place in London in September during the Alphe workshop. It is attended by many agents, schools and industry professionals, and is known for being the biggest global language travel awards. Director Leanne Linacre said 'to be nominated for, or even to win, the title of STM Star Language School Europe would be an enormous accolade and achievement for LILA*. The whole of the LILA* team works tirelessly to deliver a friendly, efficient and good value service to students and partner agents alike. We have seen our student numbers grow way beyond the UK industry norm over the past nine years. At the same time we have established and maintained the highest standards of care and quality of facilities that we have become known for. We’d love to celebrate our success with you at the STM Star Awards party! See you there.'
