Host Family Appeal 2013

on Tue, 03/26/2013 - 11:05

Liverpool International Language Academy (LILA) is offering up to £130-a-week for local families to open their doors to international students.

Students from all over the world come to Liverpool to learn English and the demand for language programmes is growing rapidly in Liverpool. We want local families to get involved. The students that study English want to immerse themselves in the English language and culture by living with local host families on a short or long term basis.

Liverpool is becoming one of the most popular destinations in the North of England to study English. LILA* Director Victoria Lee said: “Initially, students are attracted to Liverpool by our world class football teams and the Beatles, but by the time they leave they have seen and done so much more.”

Hosting students on a half board or room-only basis is a great way to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds and earn up to £130 per week for your spare room. One of our current host, Sarah, from Aigburth, said: “By providing a home from home experience for students it’s a great opportunity for me and my family to learn about new cultures and share new experiences.  Hosting works around my schedule, I can choose to host on a short term or long term basis, the financial rewards are a great help too, especially in these difficult times.”

There is no requirement for you to be a host “family” in the conventional sense: you can be a single person, a lone parent, a family with children, other configurations – all are equally welcome to apply. All that is required is that hosts provide a warm, friendly environment for a visiting student and are interested in encouraging the student to interact and converse with members of the household.

LILA* Director, Leanne Linacre, said: “We are confident that more hosts will come forward and register with us. Liverpool is famous for its friendly and welcoming hospitality so we need more host families to share this with our students. We are especially looking to increase the number of en suite rooms we have, with our homestay families.”

The STM Star Awards are voted for by our industry peers and reflect excellence in business performance. All the team at LILA* believe that they have done what it takes to be nominated and to win this award.

Even the students think our partners should vote for us, so please do' said Stacey McGee, Sales and Marketing Assistant.

Liverpool based school, known widely as (LILA) has been shortlisted as a finalist in the forthcoming E3 Business Awards, which will be held at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton on 7th February 2013.

The company, which was established in 2004 as a small independent language school, has since transformed into the largest independent English Language School in Liverpool with over 2,000 students a year from over 50 countries coming through its doors. The school was selected from amongst hundreds of nominees across the North West to become one of four finalists for the hard-fought Business Education Collaboration Award category.

Responding to the news, one of the company’s Directors, Leanne Linacre said: “This is fantastic news for our school. We are really happy to be nominated, I know were against the cream of the North West universities, it’s a bit like David and Goliath, but we are really happy to have been recognised.”

Speaking on behalf of 1 Events Media, which has developed and organised the awards, Managing Director Mubarak Chati said: “The E3 Business Awards are intended to recognise and reward the important contribution that forward-looking businesses and social enterprises are making to the regeneration of the North West. We’ve been looking for companies that have shown a real commitment to growth, job creation and the development or preservation of important skills – in other words’, Enterprise, Education and Employment, the three Es that give the awards their name."

“In this, the first year of the awards, we’ve been greatly impressed by the number and quality of entries and our independent judging panel, which is composed of entrepreneurs, business journalists, educators and business support professionals, has remarked on the very high standards of achievement that they have seen. To have been shortlisted under the Business Education Collaboration Award category is therefore an impressive feat and LILA is certainly to be congratulated.”
