Leanne's Update from the latest ALTO Board Meeting
I am very proud to report back from the last ALTO board meeting of 2016 with the news that I’ve been elected to the role of Chair of the association! For those of you who don’t know what ALTO is it’s the Association of Language Travel Organisations. The organisation is unique in the international education industry in that it brings together schools, agents and service providers in a non-sales environment, to network, exchange ideas and attend CPD seminars with the aim of pushing the industry forward to the benefit of all involved.
We welcomed a new board member at the recent AGM at ICEF Berlin. Maria Castro, from leading Germany-based agency Linguland, will be a real asset to the team and I’m looking forward to working with her on driving membership and engagement.
One of the areas of the ALTO that I’m most involved with is the events planning, so finding interesting and challenging topics and speakers that will stimulate debate and teach us all how to improve on what we do. The next ALTO conference will be held in Madrid in May 2017 with the theme ‘Survival of the Fittest: what will the future hold for the international travel industry’. It’s going to be a lively event with some contentious topics up for discussion.
I am determined for LILA* to be up there with the fittest of them all, so I am looking forward to the conference to hear people’s thoughts on what the landscape of the international study travel sector will look like…….If you’d like to join us at ALTO Madrid drop me a line leanne@lilalovetolearn / firstname.lastname@example.org
