Study in Liverpool at Christmas

Study in Liverpool at Christmas

Did you know there are only 10 Fridays until Christmas? With the festive season fast approaching there are many exciting things coming up in Liverpool to get you into the holiday spirit whilst you’re studying English at Christmas time in the UK. We have picked our top four recommendations of things to do and see in Liverpool during the Christmas season to really experience an English Christmas.

1. Ice Skating at Chavasse Park

A popular addition to Liverpool One, the open air ice rink returns to Chavasse Park on 13th November. Grab some friends and book your tickets to spend a fun afternoon skating round the winter wonderland. There is also the UK’s largest ever real Ice Slide and an Ice Bar for you to wind down after hours of ice skating.

2. Christmas Markets

The Christmas Markets are a great way to feel festive and pick up some unique and special gifts for friends and family. The markets feature more than 80 stalls selling gifts from around the world, as well as a huge selection of international food and drink. We would recommend a visit during the evening (they are open until 8pm!) while the Christmas lights illuminate Liverpool City Centre.

3. Pantomime

Going to see a pantomime is Christmas tradition in England and this year Liverpool have a great line up of pantomimes! The Everyman theatre is showcasing Rapunzel Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto between 28th November and January. The Epstein theatre’s Christmas panto is Cinderella which runs from 10th December through to January. The Empire theatre has the classic Dick Whittington starting on 12th December until January. Pantomimes are a good way to spend a Christmas day out and are fun for all ages.

4. Christmas Dinner

In the UK, Christmas Dinner is one of the biggest highlights of the festive season. This is definitely something you must experience if spending Christmas in the UK! Many restaurants in Liverpool have special offers and menus for Christmas time, our favourites include The Monro on Duke Street, The Fat Budgie on Dale Street and Smuggler’s Cove on Albert Dock. If you’re looking for something more alternative, check out Rookwood Bar & Grill’s Fat Santa burger or The Baltic Social’s Festive Afternoon Tea.
